The Moufdi Zakaria conference room at Algiers 2 University hosted on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the activities of the national Chinese language proficiency competition entitled "Chinese Bridge" in its twenty-second edition, organized by the university’s Vice-Rectorate for External Relations and cooperationin coordination with the embassy of China in Algeria, with the participation of Algiers 1 University, Algiers 2 University, Constantine University and the University of Oran. Also present werethe his excellency the ambassador of China to Algeria, representatives of the Ministry of higher education& scientific research and officials from Algiers 2 University. The event is part of the framework of cooperation and cultural exchange between Algeria and China aiming to consolidate the friendly relationship between the two countries.
The eventwas inauguratedwith a welcoming speech by both His Excellency the Chinese ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Li Jian, and the representative of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, Mr. Bouzid slim.The rector ofAlgiers 2University, Pr. Saïd Boumaïza, also delivered a speech in which he explainedthe status of the Chinese language in the world and the importance of itsacquisitionin the spreading of the Chinese culture in order to strengthen relations between the two countries.He also praised the skills of the contestants and their mastery of the Chinese language.
The competition includes three sections, the first section is about the speech and the methods of delivery, the second section is question basedon the Chinese language, and the third section is dedicated to artistic performances related to the Chinese culture. The 1st place winner in the competition is the studentrepresentingAlgiers 1University, who will be able to participate in the final session of the “Chinese Bridge” international competition, which will be held in August or September in China. The 2nd place winner is the student representingAlgiers 2University, who will receive an invitation to attend the activities of the final session in China.
It is worth mentioning that the Chinese language cultural bridge competition has become a yearly tradition at the Algiers 2University, as the Universityhosted the previous five editionssince 2015 until 2019, and hosted again this year.
